Borneo Culture Festival 2015

Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2015 is coming to end tonight. I visited the venue earlier in the evening.
In this post I will concentrate on Chinese food.

As an introduction, this is the landmark of Sibu, Sarawak - Wisma Sanyan.
RH Hotel besides Wisma Sanyan.
Bubble game for kids. Adults do like it too.
Foochow fish balls Stall. This stall catches a very large crowd.
This fish balls sold out fast.

Food at Teochew Stall.
Xiao long pau
I was surprised to see the rice is coloured in blue and asked why blue. The lady told me it was a natural food colouring from the flower. Reminded me of nasi kerabu, I don't dare to eat the rice when I first introduced to nasi kerabu.
This kueh is absolutely delicious!
Chang - I found many versions of this.

I ate a lot of this kueh when I was young. There are two types of this, one with filling and one without filling. Have this with a cup of hot tea - super great!
Kong Pia - When I was little, I used to eat this plain. Now people invented it, add filling and fried, to make it tastier.
Steam bun

Yam kueh
The vendor told me this huge karipap (Chinese version) is yummy.
Hainan Stall

Foochow Association Sibu
Mom told me this is called 'see'. It is made from glutinous rice.
Lehpian (in foochow) -
Both See and lehpian are used as a marriage exchange gift in olden days.See for boys and lehpian for girls. The bigger size you received the bigger gift you have to return. I am not sure if this is practiced again now, but my family has abolished this. We eat this as traditional kueh.
Ku Tien Association

'Ma gee' - horse ears as it looks like horse ears!
There will be a grand cultural performance at the grandstand and firework as a closing ceremony. I cannot stay much longer so left the venue.
